About us

Baby Necessities is a non-profit organisation founded by two local mums during the 2020 pandemic. After watching a documentary on the growing demand for baby banks in the UK, we were driven to take action - helping families facing hardship while also giving pre-loved baby items a new life.

Our vision is simple: to ensure every baby has the essentials they need while reducing waste and protecting the environment.

We collect high-quality, pre-loved baby and toddler essentials - clothing, toys, and equipment - and distribute them to families in need across Southampton and the surrounding areas. Every donated item is cleaned, safety-checked where necessary, and carefully packed into bundles by our dedicated volunteers. Each bundle is prepared with care, because we believe that every family, regardless of their circumstances, deserves dignity and support.

Families can access our support through referrals from professionals such as midwives, health visitors, GPs, social workers, teachers, food bank volunteers, and community leaders.

We aim to provide practical support to families from all backgrounds, ensuring children up to the age of five have the essentials they need for a healthy and happy start in life.
