Giving Tree Campaign

Giving Tree Campaign - a tangible way to give back this festive season

Each Christmas, our Giving Tree campaign invites schools, businesses, and community groups to support local families by donating essential new baby items. It’s a simple, hands-on way to make a real difference - and last year, we were blown away by the incredible response!

Instead of asking for general gifts, we focus on practical, much-needed items that we go through quickly - like newborn sleepsuits, baby comforters, and nappies. These small things really do have a huge impact.

How it works

  1. We create gift tags - each one lists a specific item we need for the families we support.
  2. Participating schools, businesses, and groups digitally receive: A bundle of gift tags, a PDF poster to print and optional digital resources for social media.
  3. Decorate your Giving Tree with the tags in a staff room, reception area, classroom, or shop floor.
  4. Staff, students, customers, and visitors choose a tag, buy the item, and return it unwrapped to you, the host.
  5. At the end of the campaign, the host collects the items and delivers them to Baby Necessities - or arranges a collection.

Why it works

  • It's a tangible, purposeful way to give back - participants can see exactly what they’re buying and know it will go directly to a family in need.
  • It’s a lovely way to bring people together at Christmas - whether it’s via a workplace (a meaningful alternative to Secret Santa), a classroom, or a community group.
  • It helps us stock up on the items we urgently need over the winter months.

Want to host a Giving Tree this year?

We’d love to have you involved! Whether you’re a school, business, church, or group of friends, hosting a Giving Tree is easy, impactful, and festive!

Email us at Info@BabyNecessities.co.uk to register your interest.
We’ll send out this year’s tags and resources from November.

You’ll receive:

  • A bundle of ready-to-print gift tags.
  • A poster to print and display to help explain the campaign.
  • Optional social media and digital assets to help spread the word.
  • Personalised materials (e.g. with your logo or message) if you'd like your Giving Tree to feel extra special.
  • The option to book a short talk or assembly about Baby Necessities, ideal for schools or community groups. Our assemblies and talks help explain who we are, what we do, and how the Giving Tree supports families who are struggling. For children especially, we tell a sensitive but powerful social story to build empathy and help them appreciate how their kindness can make a difference.

Together,  we can support families in need with essential baby items this festive season.

Past participant feedback

“It was such a lovely initiative to be part of. Our staff loved picking tags and bringing in their items - it felt personal and really easy to do.”
"Thank you so much again for coming in and delivering the assembly. The story really helped the children understand why we supported Baby Necessities at Christmas."
